As no local person in any part of Ireland was ever given a vote on whether or not they wanted 100s of strangers wedged into their communities, I’d say Martin’s comment rings a little hollow.
It's being said a lot Louise, but you are one of the last journalists in Ireland who report truthfully and research well. My father was a journalist and he'd be astounded by the degeneration of the profession nowadays in ireland and elsewhere. I'm delighted to see what you write and find it very informative.
I really really really hope that Fianna Fail, Fianna Gael, Labour , the Greens, the social democrats and now Sinn Fein(as a former sinn fein voter) become unmentionables over this ongoing scandal. I hope it finishes all of them and that all involved go to prison. The age of mis governance and lies is upon us and we need to correct it. From bank bailouts (yes never forget that) to the attempted water theft, to the massive covid scam and vaccine MURDERS,to our replacement by migrants and our people being treated as 2nd class citizens in our own country by gangster politicians. A serious serous reckoning is long overdue and if we don't have one, there will be another worse scam perpetrated against us. Great article btw and merry Christmas and let 2024 be the year of justice.

If Putin doesn't want a democracy on his doorstep, he needn't worry about Ireland. We seem to gave parted company with democracy quite some time ago!
And yet Putin has taken in more Ukrainian refugees than any other country.
