Oh the Humanity! Liveline caller nails RTE vaccine Hypocrisy
“RTE doesn’t give a voice to people that don’t agree with that RTE says. This is what needs to change in RTE”
Burn-out appears to be the latest excuse for those that refuse to take responsibility for their actions. Former RTE Director General Dee Forbes was ‘too unwell’ to attend Oireachtas hearings. Pfizer’s Dr Gillian Ellsbury will not attend a coroner’s inquest next week due to alleged ‘threats on social media’. Today we heard from Ryan Tubridy at the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) how he decided to leave the Late Late Show because he was ‘burnt out from covid.’
“I made my decision to leave the Late Late Show pretty much a year ago. It was very personal. It was made in the heart and in the soul. Around this time I mentioned it to those closest to me, my family, my agent and a few others. And they were surprised – very surprised - and I explained to them and eventually brought them around to my way of thinking, that among other things I had left a lot of me on the studio floor after covid and during covid, I was burnt out, being honest with you, and I was exhausted.
“A lot of people in this country were burnt out and exhausted during covid doing a lot more important jobs than me. I’m just telling you where I’m coming from.
“By the time I got to January I knew it was time to go. I made the decision and just to make it abundantly clear, there is zero connection between my departure and this very raw situation of recent weeks. I informed management on March 13 of this year.”
Does anyone believe him?
Next week, the family of a 14 year old boy from Achill Island, will take their seats in a court room for the inquest into their son’s death, three weeks post Pfizer vaccine.
Ryan Tubridy read a carefully prepared script to the PAC, telling how ‘deeply upset and hurt’ he is.
"My name has been desperately sullied, I think my reputation has been sullied.
"I’m deeply upset. I’m hurt. It’s hard to leave the house if you really want me to be honest about it.
"For what? I’ve spent three weeks watching people telling stories. I’m not looking for sympathy or violin."
Responding to a question about the children of Ireland wondering why the Late Late Toy Show host was on the TV so much lately, Tubridy said: "My relationship with the children of Ireland is so important to me. I know that sounds grandiose, but actually it is.
"I want them to be happy and hopeful and proud to be Irish and read lots of books and just be wonderful young people. That doesn’t change, but what’s happened the last three weeks – it’s a frenzy."
Meanwhile, over on Liveline, Joe Duffy was put in the hot seat by Karen Looby, a caller from Wicklow. Karen put it to the presenter that RTE itself was responsible for ‘cancelling’ hundreds of thousands of people that chose to remain unvaccinated in the face of intense pressure and discrimination.
“Hi Joe I was listening to the PAC committee there and I heard Ryan Tubridy say ‘I hope none of you will ever be cancelled’ and then he said ‘there’s been a by-pass of humanity here.’ So Ryan obviously feels that he’s being hounded. I know what that feels like and plenty of us know what it feels like. When Ryan Tubridy said the unvaxxed should be uninvited from weddings there was no humanity shown for them.
“RTE were hugely responsible for the unvaxxed being ostracised from society, pushing this. You yourself said the unvaxxed should hide under their beds. There was no humanity then.”
Joe Duffy replied: “Okay. Yeah yeah fine. That’s fine Karen, that’s fine.”
“RTE were responsible for tonnes of people being ostracised from society. There was no humanity shown towards them, they were treated like lepers. So where I can understand what Ryan is saying - because I’ve been there, there were thousands of us – and we literally lost family and friends over this. It was all pushed by RTE. Nobody gave us a voice. RTE were so biased. It was Claire Byrne, it was you, it was Ryan Tubridy,” Karen said.
Joe Duffy attempted a defence by reverting to the advice of then Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan, who’s successor has also been called to appear before Coroner Pat O’Connor at the McGinty inquest next week.
“Hang on, hang on, it was also the Chief Medical Officer in Ireland. It was also the CMO in the UK, in Australia, France, Spain, the US, New Zealand. They all became household names. I’m not going back into it because we argued it enough. From January 2020, Liveline, we had a call from Wuhan before anyone ever heard of covid. All of those people and all of those governments were arguing for the vaccination.”
Karen’s next question left Joe Duffy scrambling for an answer.
“And were they right? Were they right? No they weren’t.”
“Well….y-em, well you don’t believe they were.. okay. Okay so answer your own question,” he said.
“RTE doesn’t give a voice to people that don’t agree with that RTE says. This is what needs to change in RTE,” Karen replied.
Duffy abruptly closed the conversation with an ad break.
“Okay thanks Karen for coming on RTE.”
