Family to raise suspected covid vaccine reaction at inquest
Longford woman (86) died in April 2021
A Longford family are seeking answers in relation to their mother’s hospitalisation and subsequent death post vaccine.
The Pfizer vaccine was administered to Bridget Kerr (86), from Co Longford on February 26 2021.
An inquest into the woman’s death is scheduled for hearing in Dublin tomorrow.
Ms Kerr, a mother of seven, was admitted to Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar on March 15 2021. Two days later she suffered seizures in hospital. She became unconscious and according to family she ‘never woke up.’
Mrs Kerr was later transferred to the Mater Hospital in Dublin where she died on April 27 2021.
“She was a very healthy woman, very active woman, a very caring woman and deserved to have a better end to her life,” her daughter Deirdre Greene said.
The inquest is scheduled for a full hearing before Coroner Aisling Gannon at Dublin Coroner’s Court tomorrow, Tuesday November 29.
The hearing will review GP, hospital and post-mortem reports as part of the investigation into the woman’s death.
Family members believe Mrs Kerr may have suffered an adverse reaction to her covid 19 vaccine. They have asked that this issue be brought to the coroner’s attention.
It is understood the woman became unwell shortly after receiving the vaccine, suffering headaches, cognitive and behavioural changes and reduced mobility.
Mrs Kerr did not receive her second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
The family have obtained a suspected adverse reaction report submitted to the Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA) on behalf of their mother. The document was submitted to the HPRA by a consultant geriatrician. The report includes a description of the suspected reaction, the vaccine batch number and date of administration.
On April 20 Mrs Kerr was transferred from Midlands Regional Hospital to the Mater Hospital in Dublin, where she subsequently died.
An autopsy was conducted at Beaumont Hospital.
Mrs Kerr, of Dublin Road in Longford, is survived by her husband Jack Kerr, her seven children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
