The ‘Big Gay Hike’ on Ireland’s Holy Mountain has been cancelled due to ‘high winds.’
Mayo Pride, the subject of much scrutiny over it’s controversial, blasphemous ‘Child of Drag’ mascot, cancelled the hike citing an adverse weather forecast.
Notably, forecast winds begin with a ‘gentle breeze’ at 7am, building to a moderate, then fresh breeze, upgrading to ‘strong breeze’ at exactly 12 noon - the scheduled start time for the hike.
The strong breeze from the south west and west continues for the duration of the expected climb time, easing off again in the evening.
The Mayo Pride website event page has updated the schedule as ‘cancelled.’ At the same time, the event is flagged as ‘sold out.’ This is presumably a feature of the website, to dupe the public into thinking all past and cancelled events were ‘sold out.’ There were no tickets on sale for the hike, however, there was a E1 charge to register.
Later today, a public Rosary takes place at St Patrick’s Statue, the Octagon, Westport town at 4pm. The Rosary Rally event is organised by Drogheda based campaign Ireland Needs Fatima.
“As many saints teach, public sins need public reparation. Our Lord is once again being publicly mocked, scorned, and despised just like during the Passion. Faithful Catholics must not stand by and let this happen again. We need to uphold Our Lord's honour and defend His Law,” spokesperson Damien Murphy said.
I’m in Co Mayo and will be present to pray the Rosary peacefully and publicly at 4pm.
All are welcome. We need do nothing other than pray to Our Lady, it is she who crushes the head of the serpent.
PS.
The Rosary Rally is being organised through the campaign Ireland Needs Fatima.
I never met anyone involved in the Ireland Needs Fatima campaign until a few days ago, when we gathered at a friends house in Doolin for Holy Mass and the Rosary. Ireland Needs Fatima is a group of young people who travel to homes around Ireland with a striking statue of Our Lady of Fatima, to pray and teach the messages of Fatima.

Our Lord does work in mysterious ways. Croagh Patrick is for personal atonement not foolish flights of fancy!
There are days when I have to work very hard at not feeling 'smugly' satisfied. but this is a day for satisfaction, smug or otherwise, and I'm only human. :)
